Michelle Huber Photography Mexico Destination Wedding

The Royal Resort, Playa Del Carmen, Mexico is a great location for a destination wedding.  Tracy and Aaron were offered a photographer with the wedding package through the resort, but they told me that the wedding photography was very important to them-they wanted to know the photographer that they were going to spend the whole day with, rather than be surprised by a creepy stranger that they may not even like.  They wanted to know that the person documenting their wedding was going to capture images of the whole day, not just a few quick photos of the ceremony.  It's a good thing they did because the weather was not cooperative for them the week of the wedding.  Tracy, Aaron & I spent time together during the engagement session before the trip getting to know how they wanted to be photographed, and what style of photography they liked most.  After seeing the engagement session images, it was a great tool for us to talk about what angles they liked better of their faces, what poses were more flattering, things like that, so that by the time the day of the wedding was here, I knew just how to capture them in a way that they would be happy with.  They also felt much more comfortable knowing that we had spent enough time discussing the schedule and all of the expectations, so there would be no questions the day of the wedding, they could float through the day without a single worry.  The morning of the ceremony started with drizzling rain. I met with Tracy at the resort's Spa/Salon where the staff took excellent care of Tracy & treated everyone like royalty. We watched as the rain came and went, hoping for the beach wedding that Tracy had planned and hoped for, but knowing that things may have to be moved inside. Regardless, the excitement built through the day as we went to Tracy's suite for her final touches. Tracy was surprised by a beautiful love letter Aaron left for her that was decorated with rose petals in the shape of a heart. More excitement building...the first site took place in one of the hallways of the resort, sheltering them from the rain, yet still capturing the beauty of the location and of course the emotional moment. Lots of tears of joy.  Next, fun on the beach with the wedding party...we had just a few minutes before we barely escaped a monsoon that came barreling in!  Things had to be moved inside for the ceremony. The whole thing was so beautiful & emotional regardless.  Aaron & Tracy agreed to doing a "day after session", which was really great that we had that planned, as it gave us an opportunity to capture some images on the beach and around town.  They turned the session into a "Trash the Dress" but was actually a "Wash the Dress" session! For the record, Tracy took her dress into the shower with her at the resort and it came perfectly clean.   Aaron & Tracy started dating 10 years ago, and are one of the nicest & well deserving couples I know. I had such an amazing time photographing their wedding & so proud to have them as friends. Here is the slideshow- enjoy!
